I am most delighted to give you a general overview of all that this course entails and requires.
General Practical Biology I (BIO 107) is a 1-unit course for all learners in 100 Level in the Department of AERD and AEC. This course is an introductory course and a pre-requisite to all other biology practical courses that learners are expected to undertake. The course is divided into six (6) study sessions.
This course emphasizes on the following;
1.Laboratory Hazards
2. Concept of Measurements in Biology
3.Uses and Care of the Microscope
4.Uses of Common Laboratory Apparatus. Biological Drawings and illustration, Scaling and Accuracy.
5 Biological drawings and illustration,scaling and accuracy.
6 Laboratory experiments on diffusion and osmosis
Learners assessment will be based on an online quiz and assignment (25%), face-to-face attendance (5%), and a and a face-to-face test (10%), while the examination will carry 60%, making the formative and summative assessments 100 percent.
During the facilitation of each study session, learners should ensure they have a functional Android phone and a good computer system, e.g., a laptop with good internet access or connectivity.
Learners should not forget to be involved in the use of LMS and Zoom for the online facilitation of BIO 107.
You are advised to take this course and all the activities involved seriously, as these will determine your performance and academic excellence at the end of the course.
Learners, Should always read their lecture notes, watch and listen to the videos, and attend to their quizzes, assignments, Chats and forum discussions respectively.

I am excited to welcome you here.
My name is Olayiwola A.O. I am the course E-Tutor for CHM 107: Introduction to Practical Chemistry. It is my pleasure to welcome you to this interface of the LODLC learning management system, LMS. Also, I’m glad to give you the general overview of what this course entails and what you are required to do to have great excellence at the end of the course and in your final semester examination.
The total number of study sessions in the CHM 107 study guide is 3. Each is expected to be facilitated by myself (using suitable means, especially on Zoom Telegram and Learning Management System LMS) and learnt by you per week. In order to ensure swift understanding of the study guide, you are required to have read the peculiar study material (either downloaded from the LMS or in the hardcopy delivered to you by the school) ahead of the interactive session.
During facilitation of each study session, ensure you have a functional Android phone or computer with good internet connectivity, with some software that will be needed and related mathematical aided materials such as calculator etc. For each week, there will be compulsory activities in the forms of assignments, quizzes, forum, projects or referral to external reading materials which must be attempted by you before the corresponding due dates.
Do not forget that, your involvements on LMS and Zoom are auto-monitored and asides, they determine your enablement to participate in the subsequent study session, and to be eligible to write the semester’s examination. Additionally, there will be a compulsory mid-semester test. All will cumulatively stand as your continuous assessment (40 marks) while the final semester examination is 60 marks.
You are advised to take this course and the activities involved very seriously, as cumulative of these determine your academic excellence. I hope you keep all these in mind when it comes time to study.
