I am ADISA Oladunni, the e-tutor for the FTP 203 course. We are glad you have chosen LODLC as your preferred learning institution. I warmly welcome you to the FTP 203 course platform on the LODLC Learning Management System (LMS). Below is an overview of the course, which will serve as your guide throughout the semester, helping ensure a smooth and successful learning experience. This guide will also help you stay on track with all tasks and activities, from online lectures to the final semester examination.
FTP 203, titled "Practical Approach to Horticulture Crops Production Technique," is a 2-unit practical course focused on gaining work experience in agricultural farms and related agro-allied industries. This course is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.Sc). The course consists of three study sessions, spread over several weeks, with various learning activities, tasks, and resources outlined in this guide. You'll begin with an introduction to horticulture, followed by an in-depth exploration of the production techniques for selected crops, such as tomatoes and bananas.
Each week's class and activities will be facilitated by me using interactive platforms like LMS and Zoom. Your participation every week is essential. To enhance your learning experience, it's important to review the study materials (either downloaded from the LMS or provided in hard copy by the school) before the scheduled interactive sessions.
To effectively participate in the course, ensure you have a working computer with reliable internet access and necessary tools like a calculator. Each week, you will have mandatory activities such as assignments, quizzes, discussions, projects, or external reading tasks, all of which must be completed before the respective deadlines.
Please note that your activity on the LMS is automatically monitored, and your participation will determine your eligibility for the next study session and the final examination. Your ongoing assessment, which includes completed activities and class participation, will account for 40% of your total score, while the final exam will contribute 60%.
It is crucial that you take this course and its activities seriously, as they are key to your academic success. I encourage you to maintain a personal study schedule. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to reach out to me at oaadisa61@lautech.edu.ng. I am always available to assist you throughout your journey in this course.
Your journey to success starts now.
Welcome once again.
Best regards.
